Some quick news…

I rarely do updates until I have compiled enough for what I consider a substantive post, but I wanted to drop these three snippets for your enjoyment.

First, watch as the threat of a global pandemic further emboldens our president to action in his quest for social change in America.

The Big O spoke this morning about the outbreak of swine flu and its potential implications and was sure to mention that we are no longer a world leader in science and therefore we are in greater danger. Continue reading ‘Some quick news…’

Just a dozen please…

Here are a dozen things to ponder on this fabulous Earth Day 2009.

1. Comedian and actress/activist Janeane Garofalo revealed the depths of her intellect during a session with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC recently when the two mental titans held a sharing moment of disdain for all things truly American. If you missed it, check it out here.

Tea time?

I know that I have been lax with the blog and while I hate to make excuses, I have quite a few, not the least of which is little time outside of work to get my thoughts posted.

I don’t have much today either because I think the day’s news will speak for itself.

While I will be stuck in hearings for work this afternoon, I hope that all who can partake in a local tea party does so. Let your voice be heard and together we can capture the true American spirit that has guided our nation for so long.

If you can’t make it to a rally like me, send a letter to your representatives expressing your displeasure and make sure to send a picture of a tea bag along too (they won’t accept the real ones.) Or join an email campaign and drop a line to the president detailing your displeasure with the current administration’s slow march toward socialism.

While it might be small steps, several million small steps make a world of difference.

I am hopeful that the tea parties will at least knock the anointed one back for a moment and realize that any mandate he thinks he has might be tenuous at best.

I hope to give you some real meat to sink your teeth into soon. Thanks for reading.

Tragedy and guns

With the tragic shooting death of three Pittsburgh police officers Saturday by a deranged gunman who friends said blabbered about his right to bear arms and his unhappiness with the country in the days prior to a domestic dispute at his home Saturday morning, I fear that a catalyst was born.

On the heels of the shooting in New York that left more than a dozen dead, the shooting incident in Pittsburgh is exactly the type of tragedy to be exploited by liberal extremists determined to never let the opportunity of tragedy to further their agenda pass by.

While the shooting suspect in Pittsburgh, Richard Poplawski, 22, didn’t do us all a favor and take his own life after gunning down the officers, he also damaged the nation even further by allegedly spouting off to friends about his feelings regarding the country in the weeks leading up to the shooting.  Continue reading ‘Tragedy and guns’

Maybe hope isn’t on the horizon

I am starting to feel overwhelmed.

The list of bad news seems to be growing by the second and that glimmer of hope I had recently is starting to fade. Most unfortunate, the reason for the fade is actually being caused by the sheeple of this country being led to their destruction by the Pied Piper and not the new fascist administration.

In recent days the rock star in his infinite wisdom has become an auto exec. Government Motors (GM) is now a federally run automaker. Boy that seems like a bad thing to me but according to reports, a majority of Americans are happy with the decision. Hmmm.

The O-Admin has also now extended an olive branch to the Taliban. I really think that is a good step, kind of like stepping into a box of broken Christmas ornaments floating in rubbing alcohol. For the love of Pete. Continue reading ‘Maybe hope isn’t on the horizon’

Here…we…go

I will be taking a short vacation to do some relaxing and take a break from my hectic work schedule.

Homer Simpson resembles me I think...

Homer Simpson resembles me I think...

I need to get a few things done around the house over the next five days and just do some much-needed power napping, but I wanted to leave you all with something to ponder.

Here is the link to an article in the Washington Post. I hope you find it interesting reading.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/23/AR2009032302830_pf.html

I guess it is time for the attempted power grab that we all knew was coming. Now, the question is, do we have the intestinal fortitude to stop it? I certainly hope so.

And to those who have been trumpeting hopelessness in the responses to my last post, I assure you that I do not substitute hope for action. However action without hope and void of faith in the desired outcome is often futile. I never stop believing. I HOPE you don’t either.

I look forward to your comments. Talk to you again soon.

Reasons for…hope?

While I’m sure that you deal with your fair share of pessimists and prophets of doom daily, as I do, I think there are reasons to be hopeful about our nation’s future. Despite the foreboding speak of our president, Mr. Hopeful himself, and the undercurrent of fear and anger that had gripped and briefly stifled many American conservatives, I think a shift is already underway.

Here is my laundry list of reasons why everything is going to be alright. We are going to take back the term hope from the far left and possibly the country too…you will see.

1. The Obama administration said this week that releasing prisoners into the U.S. population from the soon-to-be defunct Guantanamo Bay Detention Center is a possibility. I can only hope that team-O goes ahead and makes that choice. Now there’s a change that will help bringing about the shift in the nation’s ideals that we need. Even most progressives I know don’t want terrorists in line behind them at the grocery store muttering about jihad and the price of Mallomar cookies while counting their food stamps…I’m just sayin’. Bonuses, global warming, embryos and Russia, Oh My!

Random thoughts on a Wednesday morning.

*It is funny to watch the mostly contrived outrage of American lawmakers as more than 70 million-dollar AIG bonuses are uncovered and exposed. Now the Democrats on Capital Hill are furious and ready to tax the AIG officials 100 percent to recoup the bonuses paid with bailout money. However, it is the lawmakers who truly look foolish after doling out money to prop up private industry.

The federal government should not be in the business of bailing anyone out. There are already proper channels in place for companies going under. But, alas, AIG was a big Obama supporter and dished the then Illinois senator more than $100,000 in a bonus in 2008 – so, you do the math… Continue reading ‘Bonuses, global warming, embryos and Russia, Oh My!’

An Obamanation

Yet another obamanation.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown came to the White House to visit with our new president earlier this month and Obama really went out of his way to extend that olive branch that liberals were crying for after eight years of what they claimed was the destruction of America’s global image.

Brown and Obama

Brown and Obama

Yes, President Obama did everything he could to show the world and our closest ally, England, that we have nothing but love and respect for them.

First, the new administration armed with the new tone of hope for the future dismissed the honored tradition of flying the flag of a visiting foreign leader.

Then, team Obama decided to forgo another time-honored tradition and did not set up a joint news conference between the leaders of the free world during their first visit with one another.

But wait, it gets worse. Continue reading ‘An Obamanation’

And the hits just keep on coming…

*Have you noticed that the Obama administration can’t let boisterous criticism go by without commenting? From Rush Limbaugh to Sean Hannity, Obama can’t stop arguing the points made by his political foes. I don’t ever remember a president so caught up in political posturing.

*Speaking of posturing, did you hear that Obama has said that he does not support the resurrection of the fairness doctrine?

Obama

However, the actions of his administration and of the Democrat power brokers makes it clear that the elimination of opposing view points is something they intend to tackle in some fashion. Watch for the government to step in to break up talk radio monopolies under the guise of economic relief.

*Can you believe that a colleague of mine said he supports the fairness doctrine because it helped to shield the nation from polarization? That’s right. A journalist who would rather have the government control the airwaves than allow the people to listen to what they want because, as he put it, then that is all they will want to hear. I don’t know about you folks, but I am a proud protector of the right to free speech, period.

*Do you think the views of my colleague are connected to the slow erosion of our Constitution? I do.

*Why is it that conservatives are so much more optimistic than liberals? Even when we are ousted from power by an egomaniacal progressive, we still are clamoring for the light. What must it be like to be so invested in failure to achieve personal success? Continue reading ‘And the hits just keep on coming…’
