The times they are a-changin

A change for the worse?

The ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter is disappointed with President-elect Obama’s transition team after they apparently gave no information to the committee regarding cabinet selections.

“There has been no outreach,” Specter said regarding Obama’s new administration’s approach to selecting cabinet members, noting that the lack of information is a change from previous incoming administrations that have given the judiciary committee information on potential cabinet selections prior to going public with the picks.

Specifically speaking about the selection of Eric Holder as Obama’s attorney general, Specter said while he will not delay Holder’s nomination, Holder will have to answer for his role in the pardoning of fugitive Marc Rich at the end of Bill Clinton’s presidency.

But, if team-Obama holds true to form, they will skate over Holder’s role in the pardon.

Didn’t you know you can erase the past by focusing on the future? It is an amazing tactic used by Obama throughout the campaign. I imagine it will surface once again here.

I mean, who cares if Rich made illegal oil deals with Iran during the hostage crisis in 1980 and then fled the country after being prosecuted for tax evasion? I think that guy would be on the top of my pardon list. And, really, why would we want our ATTORNEY GENERAL to be tough on criminals? I think it all makes perfect sense.

Beware: Socialism

I am going to link to a clip from Fox’s Neil Cavuto. He is talking to Republican Congressman Joe Knollenberg of Michigan about a bailout for the auto industry. Knollenberg’s response to Cavuto’s question about the slippery slope of bailout packages for private industry is frightening. Knollenberg flatly states that the money used by the U.S. government for the bailouts is not the money of the American people. What? Please God stop the crazy politics man from talking  before I jab a fork in my eyes!

If this is the view on Washington regarding the money taken by the government in the form of taxes from its citizens, we are in very desperate times.

Speaking of change…

Is anyone else shocked by Obama’s selections and near-selections to his cabinet so far?

Chief of Staff – Rahm Emaneul – Top aide to Bill Clinton

Director of Homeland Security – Ari. Gov. Janet Napolitano – A Clinton appointee as U.S. Attorney for state of Arizona in 1993

Ari. Gov. Janet Napolitano

Ari. Gov. Janet Napolitano

Secretary of State – New York Sen. Hillary Clinton – Do I need to point out the link?

Attorney General – Eric Holder – Clinton’s deputy attorney general

Eric Holder

Eric Holder

Office of Budget and Management – Peter Orszage – Clinton’s special assistant to the National Economic Council

Wow, the change is palpable.

If I remember the 90’s correctly, I think America was in pretty good shape. So if ol Wild Bill himself wants to move down the hall from the Oval Office I say good for us!
This just in…..Obama has named his first intern……that’s right, Miss Monica Lewinsky!
    Take that rightwingers!!

Rich…are you on drugs? Just wondering…because…I remember the ’90s being one big cover-up after another, many involving the deaths of American citizens, some of them government officials. Dubya may have been an idiot, but at least he wasn’t killing his own citizens — by government force (a strangely Hitleresque habit). And, as for “change,” the definition I understand of the word means “nothing friggin’ to do with anything that came before.” If your definition of “change” means “get rid of the idiots of the last 8 years and install the bigger idiots of the previous 8 years,” than you surely must be smoking crack, which, if I remember correctly from my days in Southwestern Pa., was the preferred drug of people from Brownsville and Daisytown. Are you from Brownsville or Daisytown, Rich?

Dubya not killing his own citizens???? What do you call the 3000 + soldiers he’s had killed fighting his daddy’s war from 18 years ago???
I don’t think like a right winger so I MUST be a crackhead huh? Sounds like right side reasoning to me. You guys keep proving that theory over and over again.
Brownsville and Daisytown is full of crackheads??? I’m from nneither place but I’m sure there are a few people I know that would like you to say that to their face.
I’m thinking western PA is better off without your nimwittedness around.
