Obamania and the tax cut of doom

Congressional Republicans now seemingly caught up in Obamania, are praising the president-elect’s tax cuts included in his proposed stimulus package, and why not?

While it is heavily weighted toward giving tax cuts to the low and lower-middle class, it does allot $300 billion in tax breaks overall including some tax cuts for businesses.

But a closer look and it becomes obvious that the tax cuts are an appeasement for Republican lawmakers to ensure their support of the overall stimulus package, which could top the $1 trillion mark and includes money earmarked for Obama pet projects including about $200 billion for states to use to pay for Medicaid. Best of all, the money that would be given to the states would not have any restrictions on the incoming cash, allowing for unfettered spending.

The package is simply pork. But don’t tell Obama this. He believes that the package itself will eliminate pork and earmark spending.

“My recovery and reinvestment plan will set a new, higher standard for accountability, transparency and oversight,” Obama said Tuesday. “We are going to ban all earmarks…”

Are you freakin’ kidding me? The stimulus package is earmarks.

And beyond that, the bigger question isn’t who gets the tax breaks and why. The question is how does Obama plan to pay for the tax package?

When President George W. Bush passed massive tax cuts in 2001 and 2003, the outcry from Democratic leaders against the cuts was heard loudly. How are we going to pay for this? Where are those questions now?

Worst of all, the tax cuts will likely amount to nothing more than an extension of the nation’s welfare class. With the lowest taxed brackets receiving the bulk of the cuts, and the major job-creation sector of the nation’s taxpayers not receiving a dime, be prepared for the cuts to provide little more than some extra spending money for many who don’t even pay taxes to begin with and nothing toward solving the country’s economic downturn. As we know, tricking up is impossible.

I can’t wait to watch Obama try to make it happen.

And beware the creeping Obamania. Don’t be fooled by his cloaks.  Socialism is on the move. Mark my words.

    Obama has flipped his lid.
He appointed Leon Panetta to be the director of the CIA?!?
Panetta has NEVER had any experience in intelligence collection, analysis, or even had a clearance higher than TS.
In Congress, he was chairman of the budget committee, a subcommittee for hunger, and a president’s committee for foreign language and was Clinton’s chief of staff.

None of this gives him any experience to run the CIA.
Obama would have been better off appointing Ed Fike, because Ed Fike has proven that he can keep a secret.

In contrast, Obama is getting rid of 4 star AF General Michael Hayden (born and raised in Pittsburgh) who has almost 40 years in the Air Force, who has been awarded over 18 medals several oak leaf clusters including the bronze star, he has over 30 years of intelligence gathering and analysis experience, he has been the commander of the Air Intelligence Agency (old timers will remember it as the old Electronic Security Command), he was Director of the NSA (which we called Dirnsa) and Chief of the Central Security Service in Ft. Meade, MD, and he was director of the CIA.

Now who would you want in charge of the largest intelligence collection and analysis organization in the world to keep you safe?

An experienced military officer like General Hayden or a political pansy yes man like Leon Panetta?

I voted for change, but not change that puts the USA in danger of another terrorist attack, because we have someone in charge that knows more about hunger and kissing Clintons ass than about gathering and analyzing intelligence.

You have to love a nutjob who uses polls and focus groups to create stimulus plan. Sheer idiocy.

Josh like you I worry about where we are headed. I can’t even begin to imagine what this country will look like after Obama’s first and hopefully only term in office. Socialism will be here before most Americans even realize what is happening. One has only to listen to Obama’s speech this past week to understand the direction in which he intends to steer this country. He scared us all by stating how dire our current situation is and then stated that the only solution is through government intervention. The only intervention that government should take is to extend the Bush tax cuts. If the job creators are forced to take on more of the burden more and more businesses will fold and more jobs will be lost. The only true benefactors of his proposals are the low income or welfare recipiants. I believe, if an individual is suffering through no fault of their own then they should be able to collect benefits while they get on their feet. As we all know however, there are individuals and families who have abused these benefits and make no effort to improve their situation. Welfare was never designed to be a long term solution to what should be a temporary situation. The government has become nothing more than an enabler to these people. I continue to hear those who voted for Obama spew the rhetoric that he will bring change but what is this change and what will be the cost. We need leaders who will work for the good of the entire country and stand up for real change not just a politician draped in the American Flag whose vision looks alot like Socialism. Over the next four years I pray that my fellow Americans will elect people(not ploiticians) who will work to restore the values, laws, and beliefs that made our nation the greatest in the world.
